"Love and Lots of it"

Batch 2011 takes another good initiative.

SIMC e-newsletter is, I am told, now in its birth pangs.

Real good. Encouraging. Another proof of a lively institute with a thinking team. A team out to redefine itself and reinvent its institute with every passing month. Almost so.

Newsletter is a letter that documents all that was worth noting about in an environment and it is through the virtual medium it is e-newsletter. I do sincerely hope that you can surely document all that is really worth noting. And many which are of variety and humour too.

Life on a campus has its many dimensions.

Academically, programs are run, courses are completed, minds are exercised, words and ideas flow liberally, and so does the creativity of all in a communication school.
Activity wise, lots of running around, networking, interacting, lateral thinking, vertical actions, and all that. One purpose at a time, one focus of communication at a time.
Socially, friendships, romancing, debating, competing, and of all varieties. Relations at least a few of which will stand the test of time and go a long way. Nostalgia which will surely survive this moment.

But most importantly, the campus is the place where you actually re-discover yourself, and perhaps invent a new YOU. And, thats the best aspect of a truly living campus. If the days here are not just dates on calendar, but a day towards this supreme goal, the days and nights are well spent.

Blogging hence is must, a catharsis for the mind, for the self. The union of the heart, the head and the body is hence a must, whether in knowledge, action or love. Teaming hence is another must since all communication is finally a team-work, even if it starts with the vision of one.

The newsletter is expected to capture the essence of it all, from the mundane to the special, from the thought to the action, from the vision to the execution, from the self to the group, from the mass to the niche, and all that.......

I do hope your newsletter will live upto its promise, and this lofty goal....

Love, and lots of it

All Too Random..

-Ushnota Paul
The pig had been creating havoc in the country, and the condition of our good old Pune was the worst.  After a lot of speculation, pleading by the PG batch, and sleepless nights, UKC Sir announced one fine evening about the 8 “Non-Instructional Days” (mind my words). I gaped blankly like a frog for two whole seconds, inhaling heavily through my green-swine-flu-protection-mask, and then broke into a jig! The Computer Lab turned into the most sought after place in college and ‘Make my Trip” minted large amounts of money as students made plans to rush back home.
It was all too random. My father asked me to go to Hyderabad and stay with my cousins, which I did not want to do. So I ditched my Hyderabadi peers at the last minute. As they bade me goodbye, I still did not know what to do.
It was a beautiful evening. Unpacked luggage remained scattered on the floor of my empty hostel room. As we sat beside the poolside watching people go, my friend and I were still unsure of what to do.
“Why don’t we go to Bombay tonight?”, I said, randomly.
What ensued was taking the last bus from campus to the city, missing the Volvo and finally travelling all night in a Safari with six-seven odd mask-clad-men, getting cramped to death. It was all too random.
After a day in Bombay (shut indoors, sadly), I took a flight to my hometown. Good Old Calcutta. Once back all I did was laze, eat non-veg, laze, surf the internet, check mails, listen to songs, laze, watch movies, laze, miss campus, sleep, whine, laze.. and yes  I am still lazing even while writing this article! I just got news of the extension of holidays and all I can think of doing is…
Your guess is as good as mine!
